Team Jackson Rollout Recap
Team Jackson is sponsored by the Jackson Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Jackson Partners and is open to all groups, be it a nonprofit, business or interested individuals. Membership is $100 a year.
Team Jackson will hold bimonthly meetings in various parts of the city starting in January. The luncheons will consist of two presentations, two Shout Outs and two Spotlights. The Shout Outs will be short introductions of a new business or venture, and the Spotlights will introduce local heroes or involved individuals in the community.
An annual event will be held, and a visit to another city to learn about best practices will be planned for every other year.
Committees were presented, and the group was asked to sign up for one of the committees. The committees include Program, Events, Membership, Finance, Team Jackson Spotlight, Team Jackson Shout Out and Team Jackson News.
The Old Capitol Museum was given a Shout Out. Clay Williams, Director of the Old Capitol Museum, promoted Coffee and Conversation, a monthly morning gathering at the Old Capitol Museum for Jackson business professionals to come together for conversation, fellowship and a featured speaker. The event will be held on every third Thursday beginning on January 17th at 7:30am with Ben Allen, President of Downtown Jackson Partners, as the featured speaker.
The two Team Jackson Spotlights were Hertz Investment Groups and Lee Katz and Kevin Adams for the Walthall Hotel. Jim Ingram, Senior VP of Investments for Hertz, discussed how the California based company has made major office building acquisitions in Downtown Jackson, and the company looks to become more involved in the community.
Lee Katz discussed that he was the court appointed receiver for the Roberts Walthall Hotel, and he and Kevin Adams, with the Jabez Group, LLC, are tasked with fielding offers to buy the property. He has received a lot of interest and was willing to take any questions about the hotel.
Ben Allen thanked everyone for attending and closed the evening.
